What Is The Best Pancake Topping?

Now there are traditional pancakes that are elsewhere called American pancakes and there are thin French pancakes called crepes. For the first syrups are the norm but for the second ones my favourite things to put on pancakes are:

- Nutella!!! Nutella is the all time best thing that you can put on a warm pancake... yoummmy all the way
- fruit jams, but not any kind - only home-made fruit jams with large chunks of fruit inside them that really taste like fruit, this is sooo heavenly
- fruit jams, the ones from above combined with sour cream or fresh curd, mmmmm.... don't get me started on this...
- and finally, a simple one - sugar and lemon.

You can of course put all these on normal american pancakes but the point in putting them on thin ones is to roll them and since they are thinner the topping takes over when it comes to taste. That's it - my favourite pancake recipes and then my favourite topping.

Enjoy!

What Do You Need For A Buttermilk Pancake Recipe

If you are looking for a good buttermilk pancake recipe, the first place to start is with your ingredients and your equipment. Make sure you have a pan that heats evenly and burners that burn clean and fast. This will help make the consistency and color of the pancakes ideal.

Have a metal spatula with no holes in it. This makes for a prettier pancake if you turn it before it is entirely ready. Batter will not drip through the holes and make the pan difficult to use or the buttermilk pancakes ugly looking. Presentation is a big part of a good pancake. Add a small cup of whipped butter next to the plate, or decorate the meal with strawberries, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, or other garnishes.

When you choose your ingredients, go organic if you can. It makes an unhealthy food far less unhealthy than it normally would be. You can reduce your guilt about eating something so delicious! Good ingredients will really make it taste better, too. The only way you could then ruin the taste was by putting on fake maple syrup.

By buying organic, it will also mean that you ingredients will all be separate. Not only is it a more fun task to make it from scratch, but it will once again taste better. There is not as much time or thought put into already mixed boxes, nor can you adjust it to your preferences.

When it comes to the milk, buy the butter milk if you can. Many people are reluctant to do so, since you will only need one cup for the recipe. However, if you buy a small container, it will be greatly to your benefit since the pancakes will taste so much better. Apart from the milk, you will need one egg, half a teaspoon of baking soda, one cup of flour, half a teaspoon of salt, one teaspoon of baking powder, one tablespoon of sugar, and one tablespoon of oil.

Crack the egg and beat it, fully breaking up the yolk. Add the milk and baking soda and stir these well together. Then add all the other ingredients, stirring as you go. Mix it well and get out all the lumps without making the batter too stiff from too much mixing.

Pour it on a griddle (the hotter you let it get, the better) that has been prepped with butter or a cooking spray. The heat should be on medium. Too hot might scorch the pancake. Flip it when you have to and check it to make sure the center is cooked.

Banana Pancake Recipe - Learn how to make banana pancakes

How many times have you had bananas go bad right after you have purchased them. Sometimes it is hard to use them up and not get sick of the flavor. Over ripe bananas taste terrible so using them in a delicious manner is a little difficult. They can be made into bread or muffins but what if you do not have the time for that. Instead make a banana pancake recipe that will only take a little bit of time and a few other ingredients.

Nothing should go to waste and that includes bananas that are starting to turn brown and speckled. This is when they are the best for banana pancakes. You do not want to use any banana that is black once the skin has been peeled off. But if they are a little mushy they will work well in banana pancakes.

To make banana pancakes you two bowls. In one you combine one cup all purpose flour, one tablespoon of sugar, two teaspoons baking powder, and one fourth teaspoon salt. Mix these ingredients well and set aside.

In the other bowl break one egg and beat it. Add one cup milk and two tablespoons of vegetable oil. Take two over ripe bananas and remove the peels. Mash the bananas in a cereal bowl until it is well mashed. Add it to the egg and milk mixture and using a kitchen whisk combine very well. Add some of the flour mixture to the egg mixture and mix well. Keep adding the dry ingredients little by little until it is all incorporated. You might have to switch to a spoon to stir if the lumpy batter gets too heavy.

Place a large skillet on a burner and get it hot then add some vegetable oil. Scoop out a fourth of a cup of the pancake batter and put it in the skillet. Wait until the bottom of the pancake gets brown and flip it over for the other side to get done and place it on a dish with some butter spread on it.

You can add a few things to the batter to make them more unusual and one thing is about 1 to 2 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter. Another is one fourth of a cup of mini chocolate chips. Another variation is to add one fourth cup of sliced strawberries.

There are many things you can put on top of your pancakes. You can use syrup or just put on some whipped cream. To make a dessert pancake you can put on chocolate syrup. Honey or caramel sauce that is normally used for ice cream is good. You can make these pancakes for breakfast or lunch and they even come in handy as a special dessert.

American Pancake Recipe

Pancakes have been a part of our lives for many years now. They are tasty and fluffy, and complement any breakfast! There are many different recipes and types of pancakes including buttermilk and fruit flavored. Nowadays, you can buy ready to go pancake batter. But why not try your hand at this easy American pancake recipe?

You will need some basic tools to get started: a mixing bowl, a nice skillet or a flat top, a spatula and a whisk to ensure that your pancake mix is well blended. Make sure you have all the tools and ingredients you need before you start; it makes things a helluva of a lot easier and saves a good amount of time.

To cook pancakes the right way, you need to heat up your skillet or griddle before cooking. It should have a temperature of 375F for at least ten minutes before you can start cooking. To ensure that your pancakes do not stick to it, you should also lightly spray your skillet with flavorless cooking oil. This will make for an even better American pancake recipe.

The ingredients required for this recipe are simple and you probably have all of them to hand. You will need to get together 135g of self-rising flour, 125ml of milk, 1 egg and 1/4 of a teaspoon of salt. Quickly mix them all together with your whisk. It is normal for the batter to be a little lumpy after you mixed it.

If your bowl is inconvenient, you can pour some of your batter into a smaller one or a cup. A small ladle can also be useful. Pour equal amounts of batter on the skillet. Be sure to watch your pancakes, to avoid any burning! When they start to rise, and you can notice bubbles popping at the top, then you are ready for the flip. If you like berries in your pancakes, you need to add a small handful of them before flipping them.

Give them a few minutes to brown on the second side. You can then re-flip them, just to confirm that they are evenly cooked, and a nice golden brown color on both sides. If you are not going to eat right away, be sure to store them in a 200F oven on a paper towel covered baking sheet.

This American pancake recipe will have everyone wanting some more! Enjoy them with your favorite toppings, most popular of course being the maple syrup. You can now sit down and enjoy your breakfast!

An Old Fashion Pancake Recipe - RoeAlita Dolcia

Today's pancake is a relative of a Roman pancake recipe that was made of milk, eggs, and flour with spices added. It was more of a flat bread but was called "RoeAlita Dolcia" and was served with fruits. Another version was stuffed with cheese and meat and served for lunch or dinner. Europeans made pancakes in the medieval times that more resemble the ones we have today. The first published recipe was in a 1430 English cookery book.

Breakfast is the best time to serve pancakes. Pancakes are the star of the show on Shrove Tuesday. This is the day right before Lent starts when one is allowed to eat those things thought of being a luxury, as pancakes are. The next day starts lent when one should sacrifice and often people give up sweet things during the period of lent to Easter.

The German people have a pancake recipe that incorporates potatoes in as do the Jews who make latke from potatoes. Crepes are a type of pancake but are very thin and are usually topped with fruits and rolled over in half. In Indonesia they make dadar gutung, from India comes the poori, and in China families enjoy bao bing. Panekoeken, pancakes made from buckwheat, are made by the Dutch. Recipes for pancakes that puff up very high and are enhanced by fruit and sprinkled with powdered sugar, are plentiful and delicious.

Where ever they come from, pancakes are a staple of the American Diet. An Old fashion pancake recipe is the best there is. It is simple yet fluffy and light and smothered in syrup it makes a great breakfast or lunch. These pancakes are even good at dinner time with a little sausage. To make them you sift together in a large bowl one and one half cups flour, three and one half teaspoons baking powder, one half teaspoon salt, and one tablespoon white sugar. Make sure it is mixed well and then make a well in the center by pushing the ingredients to the side of the bowl leaving a crater in the middle. Pour one and one fourth cup of milk into the crater and crack one egg into it as well. Melt three tablespoons of butter in a measuring cup and pour it in the crater. With a fork start to beat the liquid ingredients incorporating a little of the dry as you go. Go around the crater and keep incorporating all the dry ingredients into the egg and milk mixture until it is all incorporated.

Place a frying pan or griddle on the stove and get it hot. Pour about one tablespoon of oil onto it. Using a ladle fill it with batter and pour it on the griddle or pan. Bubbles will start to form all round the edges of the pancake and when they do appear turn the pancake over. Once the bubbles come back all around the edges you can remove the pancake to a plate and put some butter on it. Make sure to have syrup nearby to pour over the pancake.

There are several variations to this recipe to make them different. Make buttermilk pancakes by using buttermilk instead of milk in the same amount. You can also use orange juice instead of milk and make orange zest with the rind and throw it in to make orange flavored pancakes. One teaspoon of almond extract added to the recipe will make a delicious almond flavored pancake. Add three fourths cup of blueberries that are whole and washed and you will have some wonderful blueberry pancakes. Strawberry pancakes can be made by slicing three fourths of a cup of strawberries and adding them to the batter. One more variation is to add a cup of chocolate chips. Instead of syrup just put whipped cream on top.

If you love chocolate you might want to try chocolate pancakes. You can't beat them for flavor and uniqueness. Chocolate pancakes should be a dessert instead of a main dish. Combine 2 cups flour with 3 teaspoons of baking powder and one fourth of a teaspoon of salt. Add three fourths of a cup of granulated sugar and combine well. Pour in a cup of milk and 4 teaspoons butter that has been melted. Mix to combine and add two whole eggs and mix. The last ingredient is 6 teaspoons of cocoa. Mix it all well.

Using a ladle put batter on hot skillet with a little vegetable oil. When bubbles form around the edges flip it over and remove when the bubbles start to appear again. Spread with a little butter and place several dollops of whipped cream over top to eat. You can also sprinkle some chocolate chips on top and let them melt a little.

Pancakes are a favorite especial for children. Your family will be excited and actually eat breakfast when you serve pancakes. Use the two recipes above and make them different every time you serve them, even at dessert.
